Datuk Wong Hong Jun @ Junz Wong was born in 1979 in Labuan. Junz completed his secondary education in Singapore. He completed his tertiary studies in Charles Sturt University, New South Wales Australia and obtained degree in International Business Marketing & Finance.
Junz started his political journey in 2007. Along the years in DAP, he was the first Sabahan to be elected to the DAP National top leadership as National DAPSY Publicity Secretary. Also, he was the one who set up DAPSY in Sabah and became the first DAPSY Chairman in Sabah.
In the 2013 General Elections, he was the youngest candidate to be fielded for the Likas state seat. He was elected as the Likas State Assemblyman defeating seasoned politicians like Dato Seri Yong Teck Lee and Dato Chin Shu Ying. He was later elected as the Secretary in DAP Sabah.
In 2016, Junz took his decision to leave DAP which shocked the entire political scene and subsequently co-founded a new Sabah-based party known as WARISAN together with Member of Parliament for Semporna YB Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, as Warisan President, and member of Parliament for Penampang YB Datuk Darell Iking, as Warisan Deputy President, and a few other key leaders.
In the 2018 General Elections, Junz won the Tanjung Aru state seat and a new Warisan-led government was formed in Sabah which was led by then Chief Minister YAB Dato Seri Shafie Apdal. In the new cabinet lineup, Junz was appointed as the State Minister of Agriculture & Food Industry.
As the Minister of Agriculture, Junz introduced the first historical Sabah Agriculture Blueprint to develop the agriculture sector in Sabah with 10 years strategic plan. The blueprint emphasised on the commercial production for export and downstream products in addition to domestic use especially for commodities like durian, pineapple MD2, coconut, fruits, vegetables and coffee.
In the 2020 State Elections, Junz retained the Tanjung Aru state seat.
Warisan then spreads its wings to Malaysia and become a national party and Junz is appointed as the Chinese leader for Warisan Malaysia.
